Sorry this is not a gadget, game, or cube toy. It’s a contest, and it’s a good one.

I’m not normally one to post something like this, as I usually find it akin to a chain letter. When I get those, I generally respond with: a) derision, b) “idiot”, or c) this web site. But I’m making an exception in this case because The Net Fool has put together a crazy delicious prize package for his contest. Check out the complete prize list below. They all look attractive, but I think I’m partial to the Entrecard package or the custom blog theme. Can you really go wrong with either of those?

To enter, subscribe to their e-mail feed, make a post like this one, or just leave some comments. Good luck!

I didn’t have to think long on what I wanted to turn bpwidgets.com into. It’s something I’m endlessly fascinated by: cool toys.

I know it doesn’t sound too earth shattering, but you see, my interests might be a bit more eclectic than most. I’m not talking out of this world eclectic, but definitely not mainstream.

Many people might be excited by Blu-ray or flat screen TV’s. I’m more inclined to research a long throw projector. Some people are interested in home furnishings; I might stray more to the quirky cubicle toys. iPod’s and cellphones? Sure, I like them, but I like the idea of building my own wifi antenna even more. Wine is quite popular among my friends. I prefer beer and caffeine. Okay, that’s a bad example, but you get the idea.

I feel guilty posting about this stuff on my personal blog, because most people there read for geographic information software, mobile software, Java, and the like. So this is my outlet.

I hope you’re fascinated by some of these toys as well.

You might have noticed that Bluepulse has gone through some considerable changes over the past year or so. One of the biggest changes has been a move away from widgets, and a move towards social messaging.

It seemed rather pointless to maintain an enthusiast site for widgets and widget developers as widget use slowed down to a crawl. So this site is in the process of being repurposed.

That’s no small order, considering the domain name bpwidgets.

Anyway, for a great mobile experience, check out Swirl Connect: location-based mobile social software for your cell phone. Find your friends, connect with people around you, discover new places, and interact in real time with mobile and PC users. It’s like Jaiku, Twitter, and Loopt, combined and on HGH. Except there are no records to be broken in a questionable fashion.

If you were a fan of the Amazon-OnTheGo widget, check out the full JavaVerified version. It’s a bit long in the tooth, but has more than 15,000 current users now.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about bpwidgets.com, please let me know.
